Tip: When the wood looks dry, feels rough, or water no longer beads on the surface, it's time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my wood look dry?
Wood loses moisture over time. Regular oiling restores hydration and protects the surface.
How long should I let oil soak in?
Allow at least 20 minutes, ideally overnight for best penetration and protection.
Can wood be restored?
Yes! Light sanding followed by oiling and conditioning can bring most dry or cracked wood back to life.
Is the balm food-safe?
Yes, our conditioning balm is made from food-safe ingredients and safe for all cutting surfaces.
What is capping wax?
Capping wax seals end grain — the most porous part of the wood — to prevent cracking and moisture loss.
Why is my board rough after washing?
Water raises the wood grain. Dry immediately after washing and re-oil to restore a smooth surface.
